Le Provençale sono un modello piuttosto noto di casa Le Coq Sportif: nella versione originale, si tratta di sneakers stringate con silhouette che sembra, a prima vista, simile a quella delle adidas Samba. In realtà, la tomaia è ispirata alle scarpe usate tradizionalmente in Francia dai giocatori di petanque, variante del gioco delle bocce in cui il lanciatore non può staccare i piedi dal suolo. L’origine del nome di questo modello è dunque piuttosto chiara: il petanque è nato in Provenza, regione in cui la federazione ufficiale conta a tutt’oggi oltre 300.000 iscritti.
Chissà se a loro piacerà, questa inedita versione slip-on dalla linea semplice e pulita, con la tomaia in tela leggera su cui spicca la striscia colorata bordata di bianco: praticamente espadrillas, le Provençale sembrano perfette per camminare lungo uno dei tanti, dolci lungomare della Costa Azzurra.

Le Provençale is a model quite famous by Le Coq Sportif. In the original version it’s a pair of lace-up sneakers showing a silhouette quite reminiscent – at least at first sight – of the adidas Samba. In fact, the upper is inspired by the shoes traditionally used in France by petanque players, a version of bowls in which the bowler is not allowed to let his feet leave the ground. The origin of the name given to this model is therefore quite clear: petanque was born in Provence, a region where the official federation includes more than 300 thousand members up till now.
Who knows whether those petanquists will appreciate this fresh new slip-on version showing such a neat and clean face, with a light canvas upper over which a colored stripe shows white edges. Almost a pair of espadrilles, the Provençale seem to be perfect to take a walk along one of the marvelous promenades of the Cote d’Azur.
